Upcycle waste
from the ocean

about the truths
Marine pollution has reached shocking levels:
Each minute, 15 tons of plastic are released into the oceans.
(Oceans/Initiatives/World Wildlife Found)
70% Macro plastics at sea come from fishing gears.
(Seaspiracy Documentary)
There are 5.25 trillion pieces of plastic debris in the ocean.
269,000 tons float on the surface, while some four billion
plastic microfibers per square kilometer litter the deep sea.
(National Geographic)
By 2050, plastic will be more than fish.
(World Economic Forum and Ellen MacArthur Foundation warns.)

Approaches and Methods

Reduce & Replace
Reduce the use of disposable
plastics and reuse or replace it
by biodegradable natural materials.

Recycle & Regenerate
Recycle plastics before it
enter the ocean or end up
with landfill/incineration.

Redesign & Repurpose
Redesign the recycled
plastics with new form of lifecycle.

The
POPEYE
ocean cleaning & upcycling
Axroma Popeye is made of reclaimed fishing gear, certified by Ocean Cycle to be authentic source of ocean bound plastics. Polypropylene is acknowledged as a low carbon footprint fiber, and must be solution-dyed which brings the least impact on global warming. Popeye is presented in fine heather colors & birdeyes weave, demonstrating smart minimalism through a simple form. PFCs free, mono component, longevity colorfastness and weather resistance are merits besides its true sustainable identity.
